Managing Pests in the Office
The workplace is where dozens or hundreds of people gather every day. Despite all the activity, there are still some pests that do not mind the noise and movement and make your office their new breeding ground. Soon enough, you will see these “tenants” visiting you at your desk, hanging out at the water dispenser, or having a snack at the pantry. However, you can keep your working area bug-free by following certain procedures.
First is to make sure that your company has regular cleaning and maintenance checkups. This will be helpful in discovering if there is an infestation of crawly creatures hidden in your walls that need the immediate attention of a professional pest control company. Next is to implement regulations that can help the cleanliness in the workplace in check. For example, make sure that employees follow proper procedure in storing food in the pantry. You can provide containers where the food can be kept well and stowed away from the alert noses of your unwanted “co-tenants”. In addition to this, store dishwashing implements so that your staff can immediately clean the utensils that they use. This will help keep the dirty items from stacking up. Food that is left lying around or bits and crumbs that are not cleaned up are some of the reasons why bugs and roaches would love to share spaces with you. So, consider sending out a memo reminding everyone about company rules of workplace cleanliness.
Lastly, keep eco-friendly sprays and solutions on hand. Make sure everybody knows where these items are located so that they can freely use them when they want to get rid of a pestering crawler.
